ont est bein a Whis avec le circus

So usualy, for the rest of the world and myself, Shakedown marks the end of the contest season or so I thought. I would have to endure another contest of screaming drunk crazy snowboard lovers and one more after contest massive hang over.
Last week I was planning to go to Tahoe as I normaly do after the qc season ends, but I got into the slopestyle grand opening for the telus festival in Whistler. So I said fuck it, i will go to whis, cause I do like money. Any way I sorta tried to sort my life out back home in QC but did not do too well at that pretty much just boxed up my shit and threw it into a storage container and hopped on a flight. Of course it was raining in Vancouver as always but in whis snowing in mid april to add to the million tons of white stuff they already got.
Anyways I met up with Jeremy Cloutier and Charles Reid. Charles was taking the night off cause he was tired from landing double 720’s in idaho. So it was up to Jere and I to save the world. The course had a huge hip a bunch of rails, and a small jump, 1 circus giraffe, 1 circus elephant, and 3 circus monkeys, oh and a nice circus clown and a huge crowd of like 15,000 drunk people rocking out to swollen members and trouble andrew.
Jere missed finals but managed to pick up 500$ for best trip on the oakley jib, so the boys were a head and the chicken could eat chicken food, but pretty much killed the rails 10 times more than any one, but ethan diess was pretty sick too, but he is not a chicken. I made finals and in finals it was 3 runs combined. I landed my 3 runs runs and ended up 2nd after Craig bowlu and backcountry tech guy mikey pederson got 3rd. Oh plus I gave the dingo high five, lol.
any way that circus contest made me feel like i want to live in the circus.
any way in whis for a bit filming with jere chicken and charles
peace and love

never stop the party

Snow-Show Ep5 – Shakedown avec Alex Champagne

EP4 – DOUBLECORK SESSION

EP3 – SNOWBOARD JAMBOREE

EP2 – MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN

EP1 – LAKE TAHOE

Shakedown Saturday leads to massive Shakedown Sunday hangovers

Dear Boarders of all shapes and sizes
Ya so after a long and victorious mission in Europe and the USA I returned home back to St. Sauveur Quebec. Man it felt good to be back home in my bed, see all my homies, but the best part was it was the weekend for the Empire Shakedown. The Shakedown marks the end of the contest season for me and the end of the season in Quebec. This was the 3rd Shakedown this year and I was the only one to do all three. After getting 3 podiums in the 2 previous events and heading home for the original, there was a bit of pressure and talk whether I could podium again. And I for sure felt it with about 20,000 people, but the good thing about being home is you have the support of all your friends and crowd alike.
Anyways, so Friday came and I ended up doing the rail jam, but did not do to well, so I got a bit more nervous for the main event the next day and did not sleep to well. But at least the boys swept the podium which always is soooo sick: Frank April 3rd, Phil Jaques 2nd, and the one and only chicken caille Jere Cloutier, ya boys. Oh ya congrats to Kael Hill for mixing up himself between the jump and the rail set up. lol Yes Kael those switch back 9 where over the rail set and not the jump, but i could see how it could be confusing. never stop living the Kael Hill life.
So Saturday came with the big event. Blue bird skies and warm weather, but of course something had to go wrong. There was a gnarly head win which really effected the riding, a lot of guys where knuckling and getting hurt. I think I got lucky in semi cause I did not seem to catch the gusts of wind and ended up quali 4th.
The night finals came and so did the huge crowd of like 20,000 people and it took off. In the finals it is 3 runs and the 2 best combined. I landed my 1st run with a front 12 and half cab on the rail, then i bailed on my second run so the pressure was on to land the 3rd, I ended up doing a front 10 and then a half cab on 180 out.
I ended up 2nd after it was all said and done. With Seb Toots 1st and Max Parent 3rd. It has been amazing season and for sure my best and could not really have ever imagined that I could have have a season like this good ever. And to podium again back home with all my homies was amazing. The best part was probably I was able to buy all my homies drinks at the after party, and let me tell you it was a hell of a hang over. But I think my buddy Joel had the biggest, so congrats to joel for being the best drinker.lol
Any way a week or 2 back home and then off to Tahoe to film and then to super park in Mt Batchelor, OR, and then to Whis for the summer.
Like to thank everyone back home for all the support they gave me this weekend, it helped more than you can imagine.

p.s. go help My buddy Yale Cousino win 25,000 for most creative run at the US OPEN

Ride shakedown finale

Weekend Mission with Chicken Caille aka Jere Cloutier to do a shakedown.

Hello boys, girls, chickens, beavers, and other farm animals I like

Its been a very good past week indeed. After leaving the Euro Shakedown in Germany, I headed to Whis to ride but it rained all week… but you know what that means? pow in the alpine, so pretty much rode pow all week getting face shots for days. About wendsday last week my homie Jere Cloutier gave me a call and send he was thinking of heading down to Seattle for Shakedown USA. So we decided to rent a car but of course fully ensure that thing cause we were going to drive the hell out of that thing (cause as you well may know I like to crash cars). Any way picked up Jere at the airport Thursday in Vancouver and we headed down to Seattle with the sun roof down and the gansta rap blaring.
Friday was the amateur quali so we went over to the Snowqualmie park and rode the huge slush in the amazing park and warmed up for the rail jam.
The rail jam starts and so does the huge amount of snow, it just started to puke, but that was nothing for Jere as he is a rail master and just killed it every time he hit the rail with all sorts of tech tricks. As for myself I was just doing the rail jam for some practice for the main event, but actualy ended up making finals. So jere and I both made finals which was amazing and got even better as Jere got 1st and I got 2nd which we could not ask for more. In finals it is two best of three runs Jere landed gap 50/50 front 3 out and gap front 180 switch back 3 out. I landed switch 50/50 through the kink and 50/50 front 3 out. so pretty much things were going pretty good and it was only thr 1st day.
This is already getting way too long so I will keep this short for the main event. Jere and I both made finals. I ended up 1st with a front 12 and switch 50/50 through the kink and combined with a switch back rodeo 7 and half cab on the down rail. I still can not believe I landed that 12 and that 50/50 run. Unfortunaly Jere did not make finals but he landed a switch back 9 to gap 50/50 front 3 out and super mega props for trying switch back 10 double almost landing. Other guys who killed it was Eman who was probably the most stylish rider of the weekend for sure, Zach stone, Jordan phillips, and charlie sheen.
All and all one hell of an amazing weekend that comprized of homies, pow, sun, cash money, and gambling in a indian casino. Oh ya the after party was in an indian casino and let me tell you soemthing if i did not know better I would say that they wanted our cash.lol
any way in Whis all week with chicken and then to Grouse for the showdown over the city.
thanks to everyone
peace matts

My crazy European sex adventure aka 2nd at Shakedown Germany

So last weekend I flew to Germany for the weekend.lol For the first ever European Shakedown in Garmisch, Germany.
This was a hard decision for me as it was the first Us open I have not done in like 7 years, but fuck it went any way.
The whole trip pretty much went perfect. I got a whole aisle to myself of the plane and was able to catch the train right away from Innsbruck to Garmisch.
My hotle was so exspensive but was pretty baller with a view of the set up and the whole olympic stadium. The Contest was in the olympic staduim for the 1937 winter olympic games, which was pretty cool to have it in something that old. The ski jumping jumps were huge and to be honest wish i could have seen those ski guys jump, but what ever I was there for Shakedown not to watch flying skiers.
Anyways I qualified 4th with a front 9 and a half cab on the down rail.
For the finals there is a new format where you have 3 jumps and it is your best 2 combined, the thing that makes it hard is that you have to call your jump and rail. Which is even harder for me as every rail trick i do is an accident.lol
I ended up 2nd in the finals with a front 12 late cork to a half cab on the down combined with a cab 9 to a front 1 half cab out on the flat rail. To be honest how I landed that cab 9 I have no idea as it was huge, but it worked out prefect and the dream continues.
After that I had to jump on a train right away to catch my flight To Whis. Not the best planning on my part but made it perfect.
Anyway I’m in Whis all week and in Seattle next weekend for the USA Shakedown.
wish me luck
peace matts
