Brothers Factory’s Stoneham Shoot Recap Video

Whats up Haters

So the Canadiens just lost game 7 in over time against Boston. F@$K !!!! What a Game…

As I am typing this, there are probably riots happening all over town. Angry drunken fans breaking windows, robbing SAQ’s, gangbanging, lighting houses and cop cars on fire, raping widows, you name it. The sky is covered with 5-0 Helichoppas.

Okay im Exaggerating a bit…

BUT MAN,  PK Subbang… is the mang !!

On whole other note, heres something to cheer you up. Some nice easy-listening music combined with sexy snowboard imagery from our private shoot at Stoneham a few weeks ago.

ont est bein a Whis avec le circus

So usualy, for the rest of the world and myself, Shakedown marks the end of the contest season or so I thought. I would have to endure another contest of screaming drunk crazy snowboard lovers and one more after contest massive hang over.
Last week I was planning to go to Tahoe as I normaly do after the qc season ends, but I got into the slopestyle grand opening for the telus festival in Whistler. So I said fuck it, i will go to whis, cause I do like money. Any way I sorta tried to sort my life out back home in QC but did not do too well at that pretty much just boxed up my shit and threw it into a storage container and hopped on a flight. Of course it was raining in Vancouver as always but in whis snowing in mid april to add to the million tons of white stuff they already got.
Anyways I met up with Jeremy Cloutier and Charles Reid. Charles was taking the night off cause he was tired from landing double 720’s in idaho. So it was up to Jere and I to save the world. The course had a huge hip a bunch of rails, and a small jump, 1 circus giraffe, 1 circus elephant, and 3 circus monkeys, oh and a nice circus clown and a huge crowd of like 15,000 drunk people rocking out to swollen members and trouble andrew.
Jere missed finals but managed to pick up 500$ for best trip on the oakley jib, so the boys were a head and the chicken could eat chicken food, but pretty much killed the rails 10 times more than any one, but ethan diess was pretty sick too, but he is not a chicken. I made finals and in finals it was 3 runs combined. I landed my 3 runs runs and ended up 2nd after Craig bowlu and backcountry tech guy mikey pederson got 3rd. Oh plus I gave the dingo high five, lol.
any way that circus contest made me feel like i want to live in the circus.
any way in whis for a bit filming with jere chicken and charles
peace and love

never stop the party

SuperPark Stoneham — BF Shoot

Shakedown Saturday leads to massive Shakedown Sunday hangovers

Dear Boarders of all shapes and sizes
Ya so after a long and victorious mission in Europe and the USA I returned home back to St. Sauveur Quebec. Man it felt good to be back home in my bed, see all my homies, but the best part was it was the weekend for the Empire Shakedown. The Shakedown marks the end of the contest season for me and the end of the season in Quebec. This was the 3rd Shakedown this year and I was the only one to do all three. After getting 3 podiums in the 2 previous events and heading home for the original, there was a bit of pressure and talk whether I could podium again. And I for sure felt it with about 20,000 people, but the good thing about being home is you have the support of all your friends and crowd alike.
Anyways, so Friday came and I ended up doing the rail jam, but did not do to well, so I got a bit more nervous for the main event the next day and did not sleep to well. But at least the boys swept the podium which always is soooo sick: Frank April 3rd, Phil Jaques 2nd, and the one and only chicken caille Jere Cloutier, ya boys. Oh ya congrats to Kael Hill for mixing up himself between the jump and the rail set up. lol Yes Kael those switch back 9 where over the rail set and not the jump, but i could see how it could be confusing. never stop living the Kael Hill life.
So Saturday came with the big event. Blue bird skies and warm weather, but of course something had to go wrong. There was a gnarly head win which really effected the riding, a lot of guys where knuckling and getting hurt. I think I got lucky in semi cause I did not seem to catch the gusts of wind and ended up quali 4th.
The night finals came and so did the huge crowd of like 20,000 people and it took off. In the finals it is 3 runs and the 2 best combined. I landed my 1st run with a front 12 and half cab on the rail, then i bailed on my second run so the pressure was on to land the 3rd, I ended up doing a front 10 and then a half cab on 180 out.
I ended up 2nd after it was all said and done. With Seb Toots 1st and Max Parent 3rd. It has been amazing season and for sure my best and could not really have ever imagined that I could have have a season like this good ever. And to podium again back home with all my homies was amazing. The best part was probably I was able to buy all my homies drinks at the after party, and let me tell you it was a hell of a hang over. But I think my buddy Joel had the biggest, so congrats to joel for being the best drinker.lol
Any way a week or 2 back home and then off to Tahoe to film and then to super park in Mt Batchelor, OR, and then to Whis for the summer.
Like to thank everyone back home for all the support they gave me this weekend, it helped more than you can imagine.

p.s. go help My buddy Yale Cousino win 25,000 for most creative run at the US OPEN
The finals are here for Yale Cousino to win the Mini contest

Weekend Mission with Chicken Caille aka Jere Cloutier to do a shakedown.

Hello boys, girls, chickens, beavers, and other farm animals I like

Its been a very good past week indeed. After leaving the Euro Shakedown in Germany, I headed to Whis to ride but it rained all week… but you know what that means? pow in the alpine, so pretty much rode pow all week getting face shots for days. About wendsday last week my homie Jere Cloutier gave me a call and send he was thinking of heading down to Seattle for Shakedown USA. So we decided to rent a car but of course fully ensure that thing cause we were going to drive the hell out of that thing (cause as you well may know I like to crash cars). Any way picked up Jere at the airport Thursday in Vancouver and we headed down to Seattle with the sun roof down and the gansta rap blaring.
Friday was the amateur quali so we went over to the Snowqualmie park and rode the huge slush in the amazing park and warmed up for the rail jam.
The rail jam starts and so does the huge amount of snow, it just started to puke, but that was nothing for Jere as he is a rail master and just killed it every time he hit the rail with all sorts of tech tricks. As for myself I was just doing the rail jam for some practice for the main event, but actualy ended up making finals. So jere and I both made finals which was amazing and got even better as Jere got 1st and I got 2nd which we could not ask for more. In finals it is two best of three runs Jere landed gap 50/50 front 3 out and gap front 180 switch back 3 out. I landed switch 50/50 through the kink and 50/50 front 3 out. so pretty much things were going pretty good and it was only thr 1st day.
This is already getting way too long so I will keep this short for the main event. Jere and I both made finals. I ended up 1st with a front 12 and switch 50/50 through the kink and combined with a switch back rodeo 7 and half cab on the down rail. I still can not believe I landed that 12 and that 50/50 run. Unfortunaly Jere did not make finals but he landed a switch back 9 to gap 50/50 front 3 out and super mega props for trying switch back 10 double almost landing. Other guys who killed it was Eman who was probably the most stylish rider of the weekend for sure, Zach stone, Jordan phillips, and charlie sheen.
All and all one hell of an amazing weekend that comprized of homies, pow, sun, cash money, and gambling in a indian casino. Oh ya the after party was in an indian casino and let me tell you soemthing if i did not know better I would say that they wanted our cash.lol
any way in Whis all week with chicken and then to Grouse for the showdown over the city.
thanks to everyone
peace matts

My crazy European sex adventure aka 2nd at Shakedown Germany

So last weekend I flew to Germany for the weekend.lol For the first ever European Shakedown in Garmisch, Germany.
This was a hard decision for me as it was the first Us open I have not done in like 7 years, but fuck it went any way.
The whole trip pretty much went perfect. I got a whole aisle to myself of the plane and was able to catch the train right away from Innsbruck to Garmisch.
My hotle was so exspensive but was pretty baller with a view of the set up and the whole olympic stadium. The Contest was in the olympic staduim for the 1937 winter olympic games, which was pretty cool to have it in something that old. The ski jumping jumps were huge and to be honest wish i could have seen those ski guys jump, but what ever I was there for Shakedown not to watch flying skiers.
Anyways I qualified 4th with a front 9 and a half cab on the down rail.
For the finals there is a new format where you have 3 jumps and it is your best 2 combined, the thing that makes it hard is that you have to call your jump and rail. Which is even harder for me as every rail trick i do is an accident.lol
I ended up 2nd in the finals with a front 12 late cork to a half cab on the down combined with a cab 9 to a front 1 half cab out on the flat rail. To be honest how I landed that cab 9 I have no idea as it was huge, but it worked out prefect and the dream continues.
After that I had to jump on a train right away to catch my flight To Whis. Not the best planning on my part but made it perfect.
Anyway I’m in Whis all week and in Seattle next weekend for the USA Shakedown.
wish me luck
peace matts

Weekend in New Hampshire with Tha Boyz

OKAY.  So my Blogs been pretty empty…

BUT I’ve been busy as hell in and out of school, snowboarding all over the place, and partying like a rock star. And the time I’m spending on my laptop seems to just get sucked into this website called Facebook…

But thats over now. Here’s my first post — yeah, its in english. Yeah, its a few weeks late; but its a hell of a story. And for the frenchies, I’ll be posting some stuff up in your lingo once in a while, so keep an eye out for that.

A little more than a month ago David Brown registered for the Waterville Valley TransAM contest in New Hampshire. At first he was going there alone but managed to convince Alex Sarrazin, Max Verville and myself, Zach Aller to join him after taking a look at google maps (not exactly a fun drive alone!). We soon learned that our boys Eric Lamothe and the infamous Nic “Zic” St Pierre had also signed up for the contest, so we teamed up and drove down in PERFO’s pimpin’ 15-passenger van – Big Thanks to Pouille for the wheels!

Around 5 p.m on Friday, January 7th, Brown and I met up at my local shop, Perfo, packed the beast and hit the road. We picked up Alex “Grapeless” Sarrazin at the Empire shop in Boisbriand. Quick pit-stop at McD’s and we hit the highway — at this point I realised Pouille had left all of his keys (house, personal car, shop — everything!) in the van. Poor guy was nearly in tears — it was too late to turn around, so I spent 20 minutes on the phone explaining that life goes on, and that we’ll be back latest Sunday night with his keys. Sorry homie !

Ripped it to the south shore to pick up the other three compadres, Nic Zic, Eric Lamothe, and Max “Merv” Verville, who were mysteriously waiting for us in the parking of a strip club. Again, we re-packed everything (starting to feel like we’re leaving for weeks, even though its only 2 nights!) and we finally hit the road for some serious night-driving towards the land of greasy foods, cheap beer, big trucks and little did we know, impeccable parks!

Now crossing the border into the U.S.A. can go either way: smoothly without any problems, or terribly where we get searched, questioned and hassled by some stiff U.S. customs agent. Luckily, we got the chillest customs officer, so things went quite smoothly. Unknowingly, we managed to smuggle the illegal alien Eric Regimbald (a Chateauguay legend) in a board bag without even knowing it – still don’t know who put him there. We have reason to believe he smuggled himself in the van and practiced true Jedi breathing techniques to make it on the other side alive. What a trooper.

Actually none of that is true. But you can add him on facebook. Eric Regimbald. Do it.

Anyway, we made it to our ghetto hotel room at Loone Mountain by around 11 o’clock. For the second time in 6 hours, we hit McDonalds for a late night snack, and were astounded by their menu — completely different than the McD’s back home. We all tried something different, except Nic who ordered a “hamburger bun with chicken inside, no sauce, no vegetables, just chicken.” Pretty lame sandwich. But that’s just how Nic rolls.

That night was hellish for me, because of Nic’s snoring — I mean, I’ve witnessed serious snoring before (Hugo Chartier, until then, held the record for loudest, most irritating, congested snore I had ever heard), but Nic blew him right off the map. I mean the walls we’re shaking. Although we went to bed at 12 with the intentions of being top shape for the contest the next day, we were kept up all night by Nic’s rattling snoring. It sounded like his face was constipated…I’ve been thinking and they really should invent exlax for the face – Fexlax “For extreme face constipation” — I literally got half an hour sleep, and ended up on Facebook all night losing my mind.

We still managed to be at the contest, in Waterville Valley, for 9 o’clock the next morning. We warmed up on a sweet double line with the locals: mellow flat rail, followed by a perfect down-rail. We filmed a few ghetto go-pro lines and made a quickfast edit to throw up on Facebook, which actually got reported and taken off of facebook for some stupid reason, so good luck finding that.

The concept for the contest was called a “traffic Jam” — needless to say, it was a fucking zoo. 102 kids hyped on energy drinks, hucking themselves one after the other down 3 different lines. On the far right, a dangerous jump with a bonk, followed by a small table top. In the middle, a long flat tube rail to drop, followed by a ruffle pipe set up as a pole jam with a 15 foot gap. On the far left, a mellow down box, followed by a manual pad / table top / mini spine jump. Although the set-up was fun and creative, the concept was completely insane — 3 ambulances, broken bones errywhere, and an overall stressful contest.

Unfortunately, a member of our Wolf Pack, pack leader Dave “White Fang” Brown was down and out after his first hit on the bonk, where he lacked a bit of speed, caught an edge on the bonk and flew 20 feet down to smack his head and ribs on a flat landing. He was in serious pain for the rest of the trip, and although he blacked out on impact, luckily he avoided the expensive ambulance trip to the hospital. Big ups to Max Merv for getting to him before anyone else (his eyes were rolled backwards, hands stiff in the air, foaming from his mouth…scared the shit out of us.) and protecting him from all the other monkeys hucking themselves on the bonk hit.

Sarrazin , myself along with our boy Frank Bourgeois made it to the finals for the rest of the shit-show, along with about 20 other riders. The finals took place on one set up at a time, and can be resumed in these words: backflips, backside rodeos, spins-in-to-win, and an overall impressing level of shredding from underdog riders.

I took it easy because of some knee pain, and serious lack of sleep (and I mean, serioussss lack of sleep) but Sarrazin and Frank killed it, even though they both didn’t make it to the podium. The Pack kind of felt ripped off, but it was a good day overall for everybody (except Brown, of course, who had a broken rib and was feeling the aftermath of being concussed).

We were all pretty burnt out that night, except Nic who was feeling tip top shape after a nice night of sleep…haha. Needless to say, we took it easy around a few cold Pabst, some snowboard movies, some Facebook sessions and a little editing in our hotel room, back at Loon Mountain. We bought Nic some breathing aids, and forced him to put about 6 on his nose before bed. It didn’t do anything — that night the walls still shook like never before, but luckily I had bought serious ear plugs and sleeping pills. Slept like a champ.

8h30, Sunday Morning. Alarms go off, we rip a quick clean up of the room with some bagels and juice, and head over to Loon Mountain. Cold day, flat light, but we’re just stoked to be somewhere other than our shitty mountains back home.

We meet up with Katelyn Krumperman, the marketing manager for Loon, who hooks us up with 6 promo tickets for the day; huge Thanks !!!! The Americans know how to role.

We took a few laps in Loon’s awesome park, which we baptised the East Coast’s Bear Mountain. Innovative jibs, awesome lines, big jumps, big staircase (you can take a look at it in our edit) and huge pipe (even though it was icy as hell). Vermont and New Hampshire, like us, haven’t received much snow this winter — the difference is, they make a different type of artificial snow, much like Bear, which is less like the ice crystals we blow at Avila, and more like actual snow flakes. This, along with the awesome lack of skiers, made for legit park conditions.

Look at that setup... so dope.

Check out the Loon locals, “Loonatics” — they have weekly episodes online… DOPE !!

http://www.vimeo.com/19669637

A contest was held in the bottom of the park at 1 o’clock — Merv, Sarrazin, Lamothe, and Nic all entered it, I decided to take it mellow and film them instead. My knee was still hurting from a nice edge cut on the down rail Saturday morning. The setup was dope. Tube rails everywhere, elbows, double kinks, down flats, up downs, you name it — Loon had it all set up. About 30 riders ripped the course for 2 hours, and Merv and Sarrazin made it to the finals. Sarrazin, once again, killed it but seemed to be under the judge’s radar. Merv also rode like a champ, finishing third and getting his hands on some legit gear and 3 invitations to the next contest that will be held in February.

Here’s a mini edit of the day, filmed by us and edited by us, so you know its pretty shitty.

 http://www.vimeo.com/19038727

To wrap it all up, the boys had a few words about their weekend they felt should be heard back in home in Quebec:

Merv: “The scene here is not comparable to the one back home. This is where it’s at! ”

Zach: “they’re simply years and years ahead of us in terms of park organization, marketing, and park design. They have recognised the potential and are taking advantage of it!”

Sarrazin: “So stoked on the absence of skiers!”

Nic: “Finally an innovative park designed by real shredders, who know what’s up!”

Lamothe: ”Elvis Gratton was right. Think Big ‘Esti’ !!!”

Loon’s 6 different parks, Superpipe, and innovative 50+ jibs are pushing the bar for East Coast mountains, and have an advantage on all its competitors. If you think of it, pathetically enough, Loon alone has about the same amount of jibs and setups as all of Quebec’s mountains, especially those in the Laurentians. Man was I born in the wrong place.

Hopefully this article will create some reactions to our present situation in the scene — we have a lot of catching up to do, and the first step is checking out what those mountains around us are doing and opening our eyes to what is going on elsewhere in the scene.

One thing is for sure, New Hampshire is blowing up, and we will definitely be back soon, more equipped and more organised than last time.
